With a curious mind for travel and taking on new adventures, I took the opportunity to live and work in Montevideo, Uruguay for 4-months in 2019. Xmartlabs is a mobile and web development agency that specialises in strategy, design and new technologies for start-ups and small to medium sized enterprises. My role encompassed managing the company’s communications channels including their social media and weekly newsletter, developing relationships with our clients and initiating research projects which included looking at new geographical markets to refocus sales efforts and expand the company’s services.
Creating My Own Online Footwear Venture
The side hustle. The aim of my venture was to grow an international client base and provide them with access to the most in-demand footwear and clothes in the market. Through building a unique network of industry contacts I was able to source and sell these limited edition items to my clients, gained through using social media to build loyal followers.
Why I love what I do
The opportunity to make a positive and meaningful impact on the companies that shape the business environment around us truly excites me. The flexibility within my role allows me to work with the different project teams and experience how we operate to deliver first-class work for our clients.
A business result I’m proud of
During my time at Xmartlabs, my team collaborated with the innovation branch of the Uruguayan Government to market the quality of the country’s software development industry at international events including TechCrunch Disrupt and Start-up Fest Montreal. The feedback was extremely positive, and the project resulted in an increase in demand and recognition for Uruguay’s technology services and highly skilled talent.
A supercharged team I have been a part of
I was a member of the Silverstone Classic event team, responsible for planning and executing the largest Classic Car show in Europe with 109,000 spectators, over 100 car clubs featuring over 10,000 classic cars and 21 classic car races. Only a supercharged team, with strong communication and high morale can manage that number of car enthusiasts!
